Michael J. Marchand is President of The Center for American and International Law. He retired mid-2005 from a brilliant 32-year career in the Army Judge Advocate General Corps serving as Assistant Judge Advocate General of the Army, Commander of the Legal Services Agency and Chief Appellate Judge of the U.S. Army. He was 1 of 2 two-star generals in the Corps.
Marchand's service as a judge advocate includes assignments as:
• Commander, U.S. Army Legal Services Agency;
• Chief Judge, U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals, 1998-2001; and
• the Assistant Judge Advocate General for Civil Law and Litigation, 1997-1998.
His awards and decorations include the Army Distinguished Service Medal and the Legion of Merit.
A native of Rice, Minnesota, General Marchand received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint John's University, Collegeville, Minnesota, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Minnesota. Mike and his wife Jan have one daughter, Sarah. |
