Overview

Presented by the Institute for Energy Law, the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation and the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.

The Oil and Gas Law Short Course presents the fundamentals of, and practical training in, important areas of oil and gas law, leasing, contracting, conveyancing, and regulation. The faculty consists of leading law professors and oil and gas practitioners, this year led by Patrick J. Martin, Professor of Mineral Law, Emeritus, at Louisiana State University Law Center.

Lectures, drafting exercises, and workshops will cover: accumulation and ownership; conservation regulation; oil and gas leases; common interests; royalties; implied covenants; drilling contacts; environmental regulation; drafting instruments; marketing agreements; farmout and joint operating agreements; conveyancing; local regulation; production payments and division orders; pooling and unitization; ethics; and taxation.

CLE Credit

Foundation Institutes are typically accredited by all mandatory CLE states, Canadian provinces, the AAPL, NADOA and NALTA, and other professional organizations. Attorneys from certain states may be required to pay an additional fee. You must let us know at least 30 days in advance of the conference the states or organizations for which you will need credit (see registration form). RMMLF is a State Bar of California MCLE approved provider.

CPE Credit

Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org. There are no prerequisites and no advance preparation is required to attend this course. The delivery method is Group Live, and up to 38 CPE credits are available for Oil & Gas Law, including 2 ethics credits, and up to 33 CPE credits are available for Federal Oil & Gas Leasing.
