Overview

This webinar explores the current energy market crisis in Europe. European energy markets have seen record futures prices of €1,000/ MWh only this August (a price more than ten times higher than contemporaneous forecasts in the US.) The unrivaled EU energy market volatility caused the President of the European Commission, Dr. Ursula von der Leyen, to declare a market failure leading to significant EU and EU member state intervention in European energy markets. This webinar will address the causes of the European energy market failure and will discuss what to expect from governmental intervention and its long term impact on energy transition trajectories and European energy markets themselves.
