The Center for American and International Law Celebrates 75 Years in 2022

For 75 years, The Center for American and International Law "CAIL" has dedicated itself to the advancement of justice through the education of tens of thousands of lawyers and law enforcement professionals in the United States and throughout the world. In recognition of this momentous occasion, CAIL will showcase its impact through a yearlong celebration highlighting the Dallas-based nonprofit organization's rich history and emphasizing the importance of the rule of law in a functioning civil society.

"When Dean Robert G. Storey founded CAIL in 1947, it was the first legal center of its kind in the United States," said T.L. Cubbage, president. "In the 75 years since, CAIL's programs, research, conferences, publications, and events have not only held the industry to a higher standard but have also indirectly impacted thousands of communities domestically and abroad. We look forward to celebrating this milestone year while also building on our vision to ensure CAIL's impact is felt for generations to come."

CAIL will kick off its 75th Anniversary events on Wednesday, January 26, with a special virtual event about the Rule of Law, Pursuing Justice: A Conversation with Judge Patrick Higginbotham & Professor Michael Tigar, featuring the Hon. Patrick Higginbotham, senior judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and Professor Michael E. Tigar, American criminal defense attorney and human rights activist. Cubbage, CAIL’s president and a former judicial clerk for Higginbotham, will moderate the event.
