College Credit / Professional Accreditation (TCOLE)

The ILEA has built partnerships with the following universities to gain college credit and program certificates that are valuable in themselves and that also will count toward to further college credentials.

Tarleton State University

Upon successful completion of the School of Police Supervision or School of Executive Leadership, credit may be granted for up to nine semester hours toward completion of the following criminal justice degrees:

  • Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree;
  • Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences with a major in Criminal Justice Administration degree; or a
  • Master of Criminal Justice degree

In addition, sworn law enforcement personnel may be considered for additional undergraduate criminal justice prior learning credit based on professional education, training, and experience. All prior learning credit must be evaluated and awarded in accordance with established standards of the University. Tuition waived for prior learning credit, although processing fees may apply.

ILEA students who are sworn police officers are offered course fees equivalent to active duty military while stationed in the State of Texas.

University of North Texas

Upon successful completion of the School of Executive Leadership, participants may apply for up to nine graduate credit hours which will constitute a Graduate Certificate in Police Management from UNT. These graduate hours and certificate are regular graduate credit and are applicable to further work in the M.S. program, or are transferrable to any other programs of study at UNT.

University of Oklahoma

Upon successful completion of the School of Police Supervision or School of Executive Leadership, credit may be granted for up to nine semester hours toward completion of the following criminal justice degrees:

  • Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree;
  • Bachelor of Arts in Administrative Leadership

In addition, sworn law enforcement personnel may be considered for additional undergraduate criminal justice prior learning credit based on professional education, training, and experience. All prior learning credit must be evaluated and awarded in accordance with established standards of the University. Tuition waived for prior learning credit, although processing fees may apply.

University of Texas at Dallas

Opportunities for college credit are available.

The ILEA staff will work with all of our learners and any university they may be attending on a case-by-case basis to secure college credit for any coursework taken at The Institute for Law Enforcement Administration.

TCOLE

All police officers in the State of Texas are governed for certification purposes by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). As a TCOLE certified training facility, all law enforcement education and training taken by Texas law enforcement officers is approved by TCOLE for credit required for police officer certification. The TCOLE standards will generally meet POST or police training requirements in other states as well. The Institute for Law Enforcement Administration will work with any state law enforcement certifying body for the purpose of securing law enforcement credit for any class taught by ILEA faculty.
