Overview

The 1½ -day Winter Forum is presented annually in January, alternating between the west and east coasts of the United States, in connection with the midyear meetings of the Executive Committee and Academic Council. Customarily co-sponsored by the leading arbitration-related organizations in the region, the conference includes a year-in-review analysis of key developments in the year just concluded; presentation, commentary and discussion of two significant “works-in-progress” selected by a blue ribbon panel of judges through a global writing competition; an ITA Forum for informal off-the-record discussion of current issues; and a young arbitrators Roundtable. Social activities include a welcome reception, the Workshop Dinner, the Workshop luncheon and interview, and optional post-Forum networking activities on the town.

Works in Progress

The morning sessions will showcase two important works in progress on key topics in international arbitration which have been selected from 57 submissions through a rigorous review process. Each session will begin with a presentation of the work in progress by the author, followed by commentary on the work in progress by an internationally recognized expert and then interactive discussion among all participants. Our objective is to integrate the unique insights of practitioners and academics and promote the evolution of international arbitration during a time of global transition.
