Register to attend the 2024 Prosecuting Child Sexual Abuse programlearn best practices from experienced lecturers and prosecutors on how to litigate and proceed with trials involving sexual crimes that impact children. Assess resources that are available to assist victims, proper investigative technique, and mental burnout from these types of cases.

This course is funded by a grant from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

Who Should Attend?

With the exception of invited faculty, attendance is limited to prosecuting attorneys and their personnel.

Topics & Presenters

Chairs Sunni Mitchell (Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office) and Amy Derrick (Dallas County District Attorney’s Office) lead presenters through the scope of resources that may be involved in an investigation and trial relating to child sexual abuse. Medical and digital forensics, victim support, trial strategies, and the role of mental health in these types of cases will be addressed in this three day program.

MCLE Credit

The State Bar of Texas has approved this program for a total of 16.5 hours, of which 1.0 credit hours will apply to ethics/professional responsibility credit.

In addition to Texas, after the program (if requested) CAIL will directly apply for course accreditation in the following states, as long as course materials and evaluations are not required: California, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Credit hours vary depending on the jurisdiction. Attorneys may be eligible to receive CLE credit through attorney self-submission in other states, as long as course materials and evaluations are not required to be submitted.
