Overview
Registration is required to attend. Details, including the agenda, presenters and approved CLE credit, will be posted here once confirmed.
Participants will explore critical issues such as (a) understanding warrant requirements necessary to unlock electronic devices, (b) navigating the complexities of geofence warrants and their implications for defense strategy, (c) analyzing investigators' use of commercially available location data without warrants and its impact on legal proceedings, (d) evaluating the legality and implications of warrants for call histories and phone locations, and (e) addressing technical challenges associated with cell tower/phone location expert testimony. Focusing on these key areas, the course aims to empower defense attorneys with the expertise needed to effectively advocate for their clients in the rapidly evolving digital evidence and surveillance law landscape.
This course was funded by a grant from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
Who Should Attend?
With the exception of invited faculty, attendance is limited to Texas criminal defense attorneys that regularly represent indigent clients, Texas public and private defenders, and their respective staffs – no other registrations will be allowed.
