  • The Hon. John G. Browning – Spencer Fane LLP, Plano, Texas

Is voir dire becoming “voir Google?” Engaging in online research about prospective jurors can yield game-changing information, but there are ethical risks for lawyers in doing so. Using real world examples from cases and ethics opinions across the country, this program offers invaluable guidance for lawyers in navigating the ethical boundaries of jury selection in the age of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

When do you do the research? What can be found? Additionally, the events of 2020–2021, and the misinformation within, created a once-in-a-lifetime sociological shift in our worldviews and attitudes. As such, everyone is a different person now, including those we trust with making important decisions in the Court, our jurors. In this fresh and thought-provoking presentation, Mr. Bloom will share research about this shift as well as what it means for your next jury trial.
