The Center for American and International Law (CAIL) is pleased to announce that it has received a $10,000 grant from H-E-B in support of the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration's (ILEA) “The RITE Way" Ethics Train-the-Trainer program. Scheduled for September 9-12, 2024, this program will provide law enforcement instructors, particularly women and non-traditional police leaders, with instruction training in ethical leadership, decision-making, philosophy, and skills to teach law enforcement ethics in their respective agencies.
The RITE Way program is designed to equip law enforcement trainers and practitioners with the tools necessary to foster an ethical work environment and enhance community policing efforts. By teaching ethical decision-making models and promoting character-based leadership, the program plays an important role in building trust within both law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. Participants will leave the program better prepared to drive positive change and elevate the standards of ethical conduct in their respective departments.
“We appreciate H-E-B’s commitment to ethical leadership in law enforcement,” said Rebecca Trejo, Director of Donor Engagement at CAIL. “Their support enables us to extend this important training to individuals who will make a meaningful difference in their communities, fostering trust and integrity within law enforcement.”
H-E-B’s support is key to making this training accessible to a broader range of law enforcement leaders. With this grant, ILEA can ensure that the program is available to those who are often underrepresented in leadership roles. This support enhances the program's reach and reflects H-E-B’s commitment to strengthening the communities it serves.
Gregory Smith, Director of ILEA, added, “The RITE Way program is designed to build ethical leadership from the ground up. With H-E-B’s support, we’re able to offer this critical training to a more diverse group of law enforcement professionals, ultimately helping to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the communities they serve.”
