CAIL Welcomes Charles "Chip" Brower II to Board of Trustees

The Center for American and International Law (CAIL) has announced the election of Charles H. "Chip" Brower II as a Regular Trustee to its Board of Trustees, effective immediately.

Brower serves as Distinguished Service Professor and Foster Family Research Scholar at Wayne State University Law School, Chair of CAIL's Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA) Advisory Board, and Of Counsel to the Miller Canfield law firm. With more than 25 years of experience in international law and dispute resolution, he has served as arbitrator, counsel, or advocate in proceedings administered by leading arbitral institutions, as well as in advisory proceedings before the International Court of Justice. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute and has been listed in Who's Who Legal: Arbitration since 2014. In 2024, Brower became the first scholar to win the Smit-Lowenfeld Prize twice (he also won in 2012), recognizing the year's most outstanding article on international arbitration. He holds a B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Vermont and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif.

"Chip's leadership of ITA and his standing as a globally recognized scholar and practitioner in international arbitration make him an outstanding addition to our Board," said T.L. Cubbage, President of CAIL. "We are honored to welcome him as a Trustee."
