Overview

A small but influential number of States (UAE, Qatar, Kazakhstan, and Singapore) or their subdivisions have established commercial courts that operate outside of or have a special status within their national judicial system. In many instances, the judicial power of these courts rests with individuals who are not necessarily citizens of the seats of the respective courts.  The courts have the power to apply largely foreign law (usually English common law) and they do so mainly in English.  The talk examines this development and looks at it from the perspective of the rule of law.

MCLE Credit will be available. Details for connecting to the webinar will be sent after you register.
