Overview
The Academy of American and International Law, the flagship program of the Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law, has been shaping global legal leaders since 1964. With more than 3,300 participants from 121 countries, this intensive multi-week program offers lawyers worldwide a unique opportunity to gain deep insights into U.S. law and international business while building lasting professional relationships.
Program Focus and Highlights
The curriculum covers:
- International Business & Transactions: international litigation, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, arbitration
- Emerging Issues: cybersecurity, compliance, and other global challenges
- Core Legal Skills: legal writing, trial skills, and international negotiation training
A Global Network of Leaders
Academy alumni include heads of state, judges, and senior legal leaders. Past participants have gone on to serve as the President of the UN General Assembly, the Prime Minister of Peru, and the Chief Justices of the Philippines and Italy’s Court of Cassation.
Tuition and Costs
Tuition is $3,600 USD and includes five weeks of daily classes, field trips, receptions, and social events. Discounts are available for participants affiliated with organizations that are members of the Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law (SWIICL). Certain membership levels even provide guaranteed, complimentary registration for a participant(s) in the Academy.
