In an effort to ensure the safety of faculty, participants and staff, program participants will be required to follow certain procedures that comply with CAIL-mandated safety protocols for our programs: CAIL’s Criminal Justice Programs COVID Protocols. Please do not register now if you are cannot attend in-person and adhere to CAIL’s COVID Protocols for any reason. Conference attendees should prepare to be masked if required. Attendees may be requested to wear a mask at the conference, except when presenting or actively eating or drinking.
This program is funded by a grant from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Attendance is limited to 60 Texas criminal defense attorneys (– registrants who have attended this program in the past may be placed on a wait list). Registration is required to attend and provides for lunch and the materials. Materials will be provided electronically, and attendees will receive access details at the seminar (you will need a laptop, or another electronic device that is Wi-Fi enabled, and equipped with a PDF reader to access the materials during the seminar). Courtroom attire is requested each day. Early Bird Pricing (Register before July 1): Registration is Tuition-free for qualifying registrants who register before July 1 thanks to our grant. A $15.00 administrative fee* is required. After July 1, Tuition is required.
*If you qualify for the Early Bird Pricing or the $75.00 Tuition rate, but are unable to pay, you can Request a Waiver. Waivers are not available for the other rate amount. Tuition and/or fees collected will be used to cover current and/or future expenses of CAIL’s Criminal Law grant programs or to provide for items the grant cannot sufficiently cover.
Mock Case: Registrants will receive a program packet & mock case one month before the program, and will be expected during the program to use it to conduct voir dire, give an opening, direct and cross examine a witness, and give a closing.
Confirmations will be sent to all registrants. If due, payment must accompany registration.
