Join us for an interesting conversation with two renowned senior Latin American arbitration specialists, Prof. Guido Tawil and Mr. Omar Guerrero, who will share their perspectives on the present and future of international arbitration in the region.
This event will be hybrid, with Prof. Tawil joining live from Montevideo, and Mr. Guerro joining live from Mexico City. Both speakers will connect and explore their views on the current status of arbitration Latin America, as well as their views for the future of the practice and share advice for law students and young lawyers interested in pursuing a career in the field.

Omar Guerrero
Omar Guerrero es Socio Director de las oficinas de Hogan Lovells en la Ciudad de México y Monterrey, y co-lidera la práctica de arbitraje de la firma en México. Durante su carrera, Omar ha asesorado a una amplia gama de industrias —energía, farmacéutica, telecomunicaciones, alimentos, electrónica de consumo y más— ayudándolas a afrontar disputas y desafíos en materia de competencia económica, arbitraje y litigio. Ha representado clientes y actuado como perito en una amplia gama de procedimientos de arbitraje comercial bajo las instituciones de arbitraje más reconocidas y en arbitrajes inversionista-Estado. Asimismo, actúa como árbitro en disputas comerciales.
Omar es Licenciado en Derecho por la Universidad Iberoamericana (1991) y cuenta con postgrados en Negocios Jurídicos Internacionales (1994) y en Derecho Comercial (1995) por la Escuela Libre de Derecho, un LL.M. por la London School of Economics and Political Science (1997), y un Máster en Procedimientos de Amparo Constitucional (2018)”.

Guido Santiago Tawil
Árbitro Independiente (2018- ). Senior Partner de Bomchil (1993-2018) a cargo de las áreas de arbitraje internacional, derecho administrativo y regulación económica. Director de la Comisión Nacional de Valores (C.N.V.) (1991-1993). Secretario Letrado de la Corte Suprema de Justicia de la Nación Argentina (cargo equivalente al de juez federal) (1989-1991).
Catedrático de Derecho Administrativo de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) hasta su retiro en 2019. Profesor Honorario de la Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM). Profesor invitado por diversas universidades argentinas y extranjeras
Presidente Honorario de la Asociación Latinoamericana de Arbitraje (ALARB), Presidente (2011-2014) y miembro de su Consejo Directivo (2015- ). Presidente del Comité de Arbitraje (2009/2010) y del Foro Latinoamericano de la I.B.A. (2008). Miembro del Consejo de Gobierno de ICCA (2011- 2019) y de su Consejo Asesor (2019- ), Presidente del Grupo de Trabajo de ICCA sobre Estandares de Practica, de su Comité de Iniciativas y miembro de su Comite de Nominaciones; Miembro de la Corte de Arbitraje de SIAC (2021- ); Miembro de la Corte de Arbitraje de LCIA (2008-2013); del Board of Trustees de FIAA; del Consejo Académico ITA (2004-2013); del Consejo de ITAFOR; del Subcomité Revisor de las Reglas de la IBA sobre Práctica de Prueba en el Arbitraje Internacional (2009/2010); del Subcomité Revisor de las Directrices de la IBA sobre Conflictos de Interés en el Arbitraje Internacional (2012/2013) y del Grupo Latinoamericano de Arbitraje de la CCI.
