A few years into the land rush for “pore space” for CO2 sequestration, a market is starting to coalesce around certain issues and market dynamics. These issues and their resolution are driven by not only commercial realities in each transaction but also regulatory, land rights and even state/local governmental politics are big influences as well. The panel will explore how some of the first movers have solved these issues and succeeded in obtaining leases both onshore and offshore in the United States.

This panel will address how hydrogen, coupled with CCUS projects, can further drive emissions reductions while providing a usable and saleable fuel and feedstock. Panelists from industry will share legal and business considerations when grey, blue, and green hydrogen are produced using common infrastructure for CCUS.

Impacted communities must be properly engaged and have an important voice as CCUS projects are developed. The Houston CCS Alliance is a coordinated effort among some of the world's most innovative energy, petrochemical, and power generation companies to advance the development of CCUS in the greater Houston region. Scott Castleman will discuss the Houston CCS Alliance’s efforts to date, specifically how they are using public engagement and education to help accelerate the deployment of CCUS technology.
