In discussing the relation to midstream, we will cover the anatomy of the midstream piece, including common midstream agreements, key drafting considerations, and common issues that arise.

This session will introduce attendees to issues related to the ocean transportation of energy products, including basic aspects of shipping oil and refined products by sea, including commercial and insurance considerations, common legal issues, and ongoing risks. It will also include a case study review of Iran’s seizure of the vessel M/T ADVANTAGE SWEET in international waters in 2023, including numerous legal issues raised by the seizure.

The midstream sector plays a pivotal role in the energy value chain, facilitating the efficient transportation, storage, and distribution of hydrocarbons. In recent years, the midstream landscape has witnessed significant changes driven by evolving market dynamics and LNG/oil exports, among other matters. This presentation will discuss midstream contracting in an export world, in particular focusing on netback pricing, dedications and other key deal points for participants.

This presentation delves into the aftermath of Winter Storm Uri, examining the complex web of litigation that followed the storm, its impact on midstream operations and infrastructure, and key considerations going forward for midstream operations facing a threat of force majeure.
