On Wednesday, March 6, the IEL hosted the first of two planning meetings for the 4th IEL-SEERIL International Oil and Gas Law Conference which will take place in London on December 5 and 6, 2013. Members of the IEL’s International Practice Committee and other interested members of the advisory board discussed possible topics and speakers for the conference with Alex Msimang from Vinson and Elkins London office, who will co-chair the conference along with Paul Stockley of Bond Pearce.
The conference will be divided into modules as before, including international regulatory issues, M&A/A&D, regional updates, and dispute resolution, and a wide range of possible topics was discussed. The patchwork of shale regulation around the world seems likely to make the short list, as do anti-corruption, an Arab spring update, private equity investment, post-Chavez Venezuela, and host government insistence on local law and local arbitration, among the many topics suggested.
Another planning lunch will be held soon in London, then the conference co-chairs and module chairs will finalize the program.
