Oilfield Services Conference Planning Meeting

Alex Cestero, one of the co-chairs of the 3rd Annual Oilfield Services Law Conference scheduled for October 7 this year, presided at a planning meeting in the Downtown Club at Houston Center on Monday, April 1. The meeting was attended by members of the IEL’s Oilfield Services Practice Committee and other members of the advisory board, and discussed potential topics and speakers for the October conference. Suggestions for topics included export control issues, investment banking aspects of the oilfield services sector, IP and trade secret issues, how data analytics can proactively help companies avoid fraud and illegal activities, corporate social responsibility, section 1504 of the Dodd-Franck Act, emerging “new” countries, environmental concerns, a litigation update and many others.

Conference planning will continue with the conference chairs refining all these ideas into a draft program, and inviting and confirming speakers. Anyone interested in speaking at the conference on any of the topics discussed at the planning meeting or on another topic relevant to oilfield services should let IEL co-director, Alan Dunlop, know at adunlop@cailaw.org.
