Registration High for New Title Course

With well over 200 expected at the IEL’s first Texas Mineral Title Course on May 2 and 3, the IEL is looking forward to a busy and interesting couple of days in Houston’s JW Marriott Hotel. Program co-chairs Kerry Kilburn (Kilburn Law Firm) and George Snell (Steptoe & Johnson) have drawn together a really experienced faculty to cover all aspects of Texas title examination in a course designed for both lawyers and landmen.

The course will begin with a look at the nature of the mineral estate and where title begins, before advancing through aspects of real property law like homestead and probate, adverse possession, the rule against perpetuities and surface access and use. Allen Cummings will give a luncheon address on title standards, and the course will continue with a look at conveyancing. On Friday the course will cover the aspects of oil and gas law relevant to title as well as regulatory and production issues. All told, comprehensive coverage, with something for attorneys and landmen of all levels of experience.

Advance registration will be available until April 29, and registration on the day will also be possible.
