One of the highlights of the recent joint IEL-ITA Energy Arbitration Forum in Houston on February 21 was a unique interview involving two family members, both prominent in the world of transnational arbitration. Charles N. Brower, 20 Essex Street Chambers, one of the world’s most sought after arbitrators and a Judge on the Iran-US Claims Tribunal, was the featured interviewee, and the interview was conducted by his son, Professor Charles H. “Chip” Brower of Wayne State University Law School, Detroit, where he teaches the law of arbitration. Judge Brower describes how he got involved in international arbitration (“Politics!”), and covers some of the highlights of his long career with wit and aplomb.
This was the third in a series of oral history video interviews of preeminent international arbitrators conducted by the ITA’s Academic Council.
