The winner of this year’s $2,500 student writing prize is Brett A. Miller, a third year law student at the Texas A&M University School of Law, for his paper, Embracing the Water-Energy Contradiction: Regulatory Implications Associated with Renewable Energy’s Dependence on Non-Renewable Copper.
In addition to the $2,500 cash prize, Brett will be IEL’s guest at its 67th Annual Oil & Gas Law Conference in Houston on February 18 and 19, and at its Hartrick Symposium: Career Paths for Young Attorneys in the Energy Sector in Norman, OK on April 1 and 2, co-hosted by the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
Four runners-up were highly commended by the judging panel for their excellent papers:

- Lucas C. Satterlee, University of Denver Sturm College of Law
