We are pleased to announce that Mr. Gregory Smith, M.A. has accepted the appointment of Director of the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration and Vice President of The Center for American and International Law effective August 1. Gregory is a 23 year veteran of ILEA who began his work as an adjunct faculty member before joining as a member of the staff in 1998.
During this time, Gregory helped to establish ILEA as a law enforcement premier learning institution on regional, national and international levels. He has established a reputation as a law enforcement educator who is dedicated to supporting and elevating professional policing through educating law enforcement leaders.
Gregory also brings 21 years of leadership experience from the United States Army and United States Army Reserve where he rose in ranks from Private to Major. In addition, he served as a Texas Peace Officer with Baylor University (Medical) Dallas from 1990-1999.
Gregory holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Ball State University with Specializations in Multi-Cultural Education and Military Science.
He resides with his wife Tammera Buggs-Smith in Arlington, Texas. Together they have raised four wonderful children - Natjar, Adam, Stanton and Stayton.
